Easy-to-move integrated cart addresses growing need for flexible, collaborative learning spaces
Calgary, Alberta --- January 25, 2017 --- Nureva Inc., an award-winning collaboration-solutions company, announces the Nureva™ Span MC306i visual collaboration system, a mobile cart designed for educators who need flexibility when configuring their collaborative learning spaces. The Span cart integrates a full-HD 1080p solid-state interactive projector and customer-supplied PC within a sleek, mobile unit to provide a 6' 2" (1.88 m) wide image projected onto a wall. Two infrared pens provide touch interactivity at the wall, and two or three carts can be linked seamlessly together to produce 12' 4" or 18' 6" (3.76 m and 5.64 m) interactive workspaces.
The MC306i can be wheeled up to almost any classroom wall to transform it into an interactive surface for student-led collaboration and project work. The system is purpose-built for Span software, which creates an expansive, cloud-based canvas into which groups of students can contribute their ideas for discussion, critical analysis and problem solving. Students can create and interact with content directly on the wall from their personal tablets or laptops. By drawing upon familiar paper-based artifacts such as sticky notes, sketches, images and flip charts, Span software is easy to learn and can be quickly incorporated into collaborative learning activities.
“Many schools around the world are making the shift from fixed classrooms to flexible learning spaces, where tables and chairs are easily wheeled around to accommodate a variety of learning activities and approaches,” said Nancy Knowlton, Nureva’s CEO. “The mobile Span system gives educators the opportunity to create large, digital workspaces for student collaboration on virtually any wall in their classroom or other learning space.”
The mobile Span system includes a full-HD 1080p ultra-short-throw solid-state projector with
- 25,000 hours of expected life (similar to flat-panel displays), carefree maintenance and high resistance to dust
- An energy efficient optical engine, which consumes 80% less power than lamp-based projectors and 30% less power than an 84" (2.13 m) flat-panel display
Fast and easy setup and start-up
The cart can be moved around a classroom or a school and then started up quickly:
- A fold-down handle and durable castors allow the cart to be easily rolled up to and used on nearly any flat or smooth surface
- Near-instant on/off lets groups get started immediately
Two infrared pens provide accurate interactivity through auto-calibration and are easily stored on a magnetic pen tray when not in use.
