Can you hear me now?

There is little to no debate about the importance of audio in any type of collaborative activity that connects remote team members. Every survey that I have seen ranks good quality audio conferencing at the top – well ahead of data sharing and videoconferencing. It almost goes without making the point, as it’s that obvious.

Then, why is it that so many of us struggle through connected meetings with poor quality audio, unable to fully participate with remote colleagues? The reason is simple – many available solutions are just not up to the task for a variety of reasons.

  • With displays an increasingly important element in many meeting rooms, some participants are now speaking into the wall, away from the microphones in the audio system on the table. The placement of the microphones is simply not ideal for voices projected into a display or wall.
  • With many participants bringing their devices into meetings, there is often a lot of noise on the meeting room table. Computer fans, keyboard noise, rustling papers and movement of a variety of materials are picked up and amplified for remote participants.

A new technology approach

With virtually every one of our own meetings facing these same issues and more, we asked ourselves a very simple question – how might a new technology approach resolve the problems and create a delightful experience, one that was akin to remote participants being in the room? So began our journey to create a new audio technology that we could embed in multiple products to work in huddle rooms, small meeting rooms, mid-sized and large meeting rooms and more open team spaces.

Our approach to audio technology is fundamentally different from other solutions available today, and at its core is a powerful processor that processes 15,000 MIPS. This compares to 400 to 1,000 MIPS in other available audio conferencing products. This extreme advantage in processing power with input from 12 microphones allows an audio experience like none other.

We will be announcing and demonstrating a new product based on this exciting technology breakthrough at InfoComm 2016 in Las Vegas. We look forward to sharing our innovative approach so that no one has to ever ask in a Nureva-enabled audio conference “Can you hear me now?”
