Nureva’s chairman and CTO is one of nine distinguished honorands of the university’s highest honor
Calgary, Alberta --- May 11, 2017 --- Nureva Inc., an award-winning collaboration-solutions company, announces that David Martin, the company’s co-founder, chairman and CTO, has been selected to receive an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, for his significant contributions to the field of educational technology. Concordia University will confer honorary doctorates on nine individuals who have made significant contributions in literature, athletics, international aid, music, business and philanthropy. Martin will join more than 3,000 students receiving their diplomas from four faculties and the School of Graduate Studies. Martin will address the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
In 1987, David Martin and his wife Nancy Knowlton co-founded SMART Technologies, which changed the technology profile of classrooms around the world through Martin’s invention of the world’s first and most popular interactive whiteboard. In 2014, they co-founded Nureva, a collaboration solutions company that continues his lifelong passion for solving the challenges of collaboration through technology. Martin is a member of the Society of Information Displays (SID) and the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). He has received significant recognition for his work in collaboration technologies and was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2013 for his impact on education. Martin is a recognized technology pioneer and the named inventor on many patents. He holds a bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics from Concordia University.
