Case study: Les Roches chooses Nureva audio for new innovation center
  • Hospitality school seeks audio solution for new innovation center
  • Chooses Nureva to equip the center with excellent audio to support research and development
  • Results in better remote collaboration between companies, students and professors

The story of Les Roches

Founded in Switzerland in 1954, Les Roches Global Hospitality Education offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the fields of hospitality, tourism and event management. The institution follows the Swiss model of hospitality education, with experiential, hands-on learning built into the fabric of its study programs.

In October 2020, Spark, a global innovation center, was added to Les Roches’s Crans-Montana campus. Built to foster innovation in hospitality, it has incubation services for start-ups and invites students, alumni and industry partners to develop and test new hospitality solutions, turning the campus into a living laboratory.

The audio challenge

Given the international nature of Les Roches’s student population and the innovative approach of its programs, hybrid and remote teaching is not something new. All the products and services the school chooses must deliver top-quality remote learning experiences and be user-friendly for students and faculty. Having the best audio and connectivity is essential.

With the development of Spark, this need has increased. Projects underway at the innovation center require the simultaneous participation and collaboration of several stakeholders, including external companies, students and professors. People from outside organizations aren’t able to regularly travel to the campus, so having high-quality audio to match the “face-to-face” experience is important.

How Nureva solved it

Product performance and ease of use both top the list of what Les Roches expects from technology products. So it’s no surprise that the team chose Nureva® audio to support excellent remote collaboration. “There are many reasons that led us to use Nureva, but the most important ones are product quality and customer service – pre and post sales,” explains Pablo Garcia, director of Spark Crans-Montana, Innovation Sphere.

Les Roches is currently using an HDL300 system in the Spark Research and Development Center – a 200 square meter space dedicated to innovation. “The space is used by companies and professors collaborating with students on innovation projects,” says Pablo. “The research and development activities that take place in the space require the use of multimedia material, slides and videos on a daily basis. Access to a good audio system is a necessity.”
