With 8,192 virtual microphones, hearing is believing

Our desire for a great audio conferencing experience for our dispersed team led us to create the new HDL300 product that we have just announced. It wasn’t enough to connect with Microsoft® Skype® for Business – we wanted to feel like we were all together in the same space, a feeling that no product had been able to create for us. Ever.

We know that a lot of companies have brought audio products to market through the years and are in the market today. Big names in audio conferencing have built entrenched positions over extended periods of time. They have invested millions of dollars in R & D and millions more in marketing and sales. End users have standardized on their favorite suppliers.

Taking a clean-slate approach

Like other companies, we have used and experimented with a variety of audio conferencing systems. We have small room systems on the tables in our huddle rooms. We have other high end systems in our mid-sized meeting rooms, some with multiple pods on large tables and some with ceiling mics and speakers. In our boardroom, we have mics that people clip on for better audio pick up. For some systems, we paid a modest amount, while with others we paid more than $15,000 just for the equipment. And still we struggled at times.

Through our own experiences, we kept coming back to the same question – how could a clean-slate approach to the technology powering audio conferencing systems get us to that in-person experience we craved?

A fundamentally different approach

Our approach to audio conferencing technology is fundamentally different from other solutions available today, and at its core is a powerful processor that processes 15,000 MIPS. This compares to the roughly 1,000 MIPS in other comparable audio conferencing products. This extreme advantage in processing power with input from 12 microphones on our integrated microphone and speaker bar allows an audio experience like none other.

It puts 8,192 virtual microphones around a small to mid-sized room (up to 20ˈ x 20ˈor 6.10 x 6.10 m) so that microphones are close to people – not the other way around, which is common with conventional systems. Our Microphone Mist™ technology offers exceptional pick up for low talkers, people who are turned toward an interactive display on the wall, people who are standing in the corner – all problems that conventional systems can struggle to handle. And we offer this solution at an accessible price point.

Don’t just take my word for it. Experience the difference 8,192 virtual microphones can make. In this case, hearing is believing.
